SANTA BARBARA, Calif., June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- As fuel prices continue to escalate, thieves are taking advantage of traveling inventory -- Recreational Vehicles. Since many RVs carry up to 100 gallons of regular or diesel fuel, gas crooks have found them to be extremely profitable targets. Over the past year, gas siphoning crimes have gone through the roof, causing many recreational enthusiasts to buy locking gas caps, park exclusively in well-lit areas, or simply forego family RV vacations.

A flaming truck racing up Douglas Street Monday morning was trying to escape the scene of a gas-siphoning accident that destroyed five vehicles and left the suspect in hospital with sever burns.
